Stages of Fetal Development

• At Conception:  Human Life has begun.  A new being exists.  geneticaly different from any other being, with 46 Human Chromosomes, is alive (capable of replacing its own cells), and needs only food and time to grow into an adult human.
• At 18 days: The Heart begins to beat.
• At 20 days:  The foundations of the brain, spinal cord, and nervious system are establishad.
• At 28 days:  The backbone and muscles are forming.  Arms, legs, eyes, and ears have begun to show.
• At 30 days:  The Heart is pumping larger amounts of  blood through the baby's body.  The placenta forms a barrier to keep the mother's blood seperate, and allow food and oxygen to pass through.
• At 35 days:  Five fingers can be seen on the hand.  The eyes darken as pigment is produced. 
• At 40 days:  Brain waves can now be detected and recorded.
• At 6 weeks: Movement begins.  The liver takes over the production of blood cells  At this point, the mother has probably confirmed her pregnancy.
• At 7 weeks: He or She will move spontaniously.  The Jaw forms, including teeth buds and gums.  Soon eyelids will seal to protect the light-sensitive eyes and will reopen at about 7 months
• At 8 weeks:  Everything is now present that is found in a fully developed adult.  The stomach produces digestive juices, and the kidneys now function.  Forty muscle sets begin to operate in conjunction with the nervious system.  The baby now responds to touch.
• At 9 weeks: Fingerprints are evident in the skin. He or She will grab an instument placed in their palm. - An electrocardiogram can be done. He or She swims freely in the amniotic fluid His or Her Heartbeat can be heard with instruments.
• At 10 weeks: the baby can squint, swallow, and wrinkle his or her forehead.
• At 11 weeks: Urination now occurs.  The muscle movements have become more coordinated,
• At 12 weeks: The baby now sleeps, awakens and exercises its muscles energetically-turning its head, curling its toes, and opening and closing its mouth.  The hand, when stroked, will make a tight fist.
• At 13 weeks: Fine hair has begun to grow on the head.  The baby's sex becomes apparent
• At 4 months: The ears function.  The baby can hear the mother's voice, and heartbeat as external noises.
• At 5 months: The mother feels movement.  If a sound is especially loud or startling, the baby may jump in reaction to it.
• At 6 months: Oil and Sweat glands now function.  If the baby were born now he or she would survive.
• At 7 months: The baby now sees, hears, tastes, and feels.
• At 8 months: The skin begins to thicken, and a layer of fat is produced for insulation and nourishment.
• At 9 months: Towards the end of this month the baby is ready to be born, and fully capable of life outside the womb.

Methods of Abortion

• RU486 & Methotrexate:  These are abortion drugs.  They are used between one and three weeks after she has missed her first period.  They deprive the tiny embryo of a vital nutrient hormone, progesterone (RU486) and by direct toxic action (methotrexate)  The developing baby is killed this way after his or her heart has begun to beat
• Suction Adortion: This type of abortion is performed between six and twelve weeks.  A tube is placed through the mouth of the womb.  Connected to powerful suction, this tears apart the body of the developing baby.
• D&E Abortion: This type of abortion is performed between 12 and 20 weeks.  The abortionist grasps part of the baby's body with a sharp, pliers-like instrument and tears it away.  The dismemberment of the living baby continues without any Fetal anesthetic, untill all of the parts are removed including the deeply rooted afterbirth.  Bleeding is profuse.
• Salt Poisoning: This type of abortion is performed after 16 weeks.  A long needle is inserted through the mother's abdomen into the baby's sac and a solution of highly concentrated salt is injected.  The baby breathes and swallows the salt and is poisoned by it.  It takes over an hour to slowly kill the baby.  The mother will then go into labor about 24 hours later and deliver the dead baby.
• Prostaglandin Abortion: This type of abortion is performed during all stages of pregnancy.  A drug  causes the mother to go into labor to induce abortion.  It can cause serious maternal injury.
• Partial Birth (Brain Suction) Abortion: After 3 days of dilating the cervix, the abortionist reaches up the birth canal and grasps the baby's legs and pulls them down.  They then pull the body, shoulders and arms out.  At this point they could pull a few more inches and deliver the baby alive, but instead scissors are inserted at the base of the baby's head and the blades are seperated , making an opening in the baby's skull.  A suction tube is inserted into the hole, and the baby's brain is then sucked out, killing the baby.  The dead baby is then removed.

After Affects of Abortion

Women who have had abortions have suffered from these relatively minor complications:

In a series of 1,182 abortions 27%  aquired post-abortion infections lasting 3 days or longer.

3-5% of post abortive women can no longer have children.  Women who are infected with a venerreal disease at the time of the abortion face an even greater risk.

Women who acquire post-abortive infections are 5 to8 times more likely to experience ectopic pregnancies.

Cervical tears occur in 22 % of abortions.

A 5 year retrospective study found that 25% of women who have had an abortion made visits to a psychiatrist.
